Welcome to DFCS Education & Training

The Social Service Learning Development Unit continues to collaborate with the Regional staff in an effort to meet the training needs that are identified for their respective teams.

Along with training new Social Service Case Managers, our trainers are also available to schedule, arrange and teach courses within your regions. The ten trainers within this unit are assigned to specific regions shown below:

We are continuing our efforts in the statewide roll-out of the Intake/Screening for Case Managers training as a result of the Georgia Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). The training discusses the new Intake policy and includes Georgia SHINES activities related to program and practice. For more information or to register, contact the Social Services Registrar at ssregistrar@dhr.state.ga.us.

For newly hired Social Services Case Managers, our team conducts a staff orientation course, “Making Connections” to introduce scheduling and requirements for pre and post certification. Trainers then make themselves available as a support system during the full length of the certification process. To register for “Making Connections”, log onto the registration and transcript center at https://www.gadfcs.org/transcript.

Education and Training Services Section

The Education and Training Services Section is committed to improving the knowledge, skills, attitudes and practice of new and veteran staff and to influencing organizational barriers that affect retention of effective employees.  We are ever mindful that our overall purpose is to improve the division’s services to families and children.  We develop initiatives and programs in response to the needs of the field, and we recognize the demands and challenges placed on county staff serving families and children.  Positive outcomes are attained in our section through teamwork, exerting influence, setting boundaries, openly communicating and maintaining an integrated, systems approach.  Our efforts ultimately move the Division of Family and Children Services and Department of Human Resources closer to fulfilling their missions.

Vision

The Education and Training Services Section will be regarded as a value-added knowledge and learning source for DFCS stakeholders, capable of providing programs and solutions to increase and sustain organizational effectiveness.

Mission

In order to realize our vision, our mission must be to exceed the expectations of our customers (regional/county and state employees), whom we define as all DFCS stakeholders. We will accomplish our mission by committing to our shared values, delivering quality hybrid learning solutions and by achieving the highest levels of customer satisfaction, with extraordinary emphasis on the creation of highly educated and trained professionals. In this way we will ensure that we meet the needs of a high-performance organization dedicated to standards of excellence, and the safety and improvement of Georgia children and families.
