Adoption Services

Adoption is a lifelong commitment, and for this reason, the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) provides adoption services that span a child’s life. These include helping each child find a loving family, as well as providing a host of support services for the children and their families after an adoption takes place.

Adopting in Georgia
DHR has hundreds of children who are in permanent custody and available for adoption. Many have lived their entire childhood in foster care without ever having a family to call their own.

Post Adoption Services
The support services following adoption are vital to the children and their families. Throughout a child’s life, there may be questions, challenges or new issues that arise.

Birth Family Search
It is common for adopted children, birth parents or siblings who were separated as a result of adoption to reach a time in their adulthood when they want information about their biological family.
