Welcome to DFCS

The Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is the part of DHR that investigates child abuse; finds foster homes for abused and neglected children; helps low income, out-of-work parents get back on their feet; assists with childcare costs for low income parents who are working or in job training; and provides numerous support services and innovative programs to help troubled families.

Rate Reimbursement Task Force Meetings

DFCS will convene a Rate Reimbursement Task Force to examine and make recommendations for reimbursement rates to compensate providers for caring for foster children (excluding base, non-therapeutic foster care rates). Task Force members will include national experts in health policy, child welfare, and adolescent behavioral and mental health. Faculty and staff from the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government will serve as staff to the Task Force and assist with convening the meetings, gathering research, and writing and distributing the final report.

The Task Force meetings, unless otherwise posted, will take place in the DHR Boardroom at 2 Peachtree on the following dates at the following times:

June 18, 2009: 9 am - 2 pm
September 18, 2009: 10 am - 3pm
October 16, 2009: 10 am - 3 pm
November 20, 2009: 10 am - 3 pm
